ABOUT

Hi! I’m Marielle Brinda. I’m an editor, producer, screenwriter and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. As a creative video editor / post producer, I specialize in documentaries, development sizzle reels, trailers / promos / marketing content, narrative film, food competition shows, digital originals, video podcasts and educational master classes. I’ve worked on major theatrical marketing campaigns, for long-running television brands and have watched thousands of hours of footage in my pursuit to help tell engaging, entertaining and meaningful stories.  Recently, I edited the feature-length documentary, Fireboys, released by 1091 Pictures and now streaming on HBO Max.  We received the Grand Jury Winner Prize for Best Editing in a Documentary Feature at the 2022 Red Rock Film Festival.  My editing has been described as “sharp and precise.” Story is one of my biggest strengths, but I also embrace the technical aspects of both post and production. And I love learning new techniques. Currently, I work as a story editor / post producer on Food Network’s Baking Championship shows.

I also write screenplays and have won Columbia College Chicago’s Written Image Award for Alumni Feature-Length Screenplay twice with my scripts, The Rockefeller Prize (2010),  and Gloria, La Torera (2019).  My feature script, Black River, was also runner-up in 2019. Black River placed among the top twenty percent in the 2019 Academy Nicholl Fellowships, and was a top ten finalist in the 2019 ScreenCraft Drama Screenplay competition. Gloria was also a semi-finalist in the 2019 Stage 32 + Gidden Media Grown Up Movies Screenplay Contest.  My television pilot, Hot Stuff, advanced in Screencraft’s 2022 comedy competition.

As a filmmaker and writer, I explore family dynamics, dysfunction and friendships. I excel in crafting ensemble stories with Rust Belt grit and look for opportunities to blend genres and insert elements of horror, the supernatural or magical realism into worlds otherwise rooted in reality.

In my free time, I volunteer for WriteGirl as a creative writing mentor. I love to play piano, watch a good movie / show (I LOVE a good horror, comedy or horror/comedy) and spend time with my partner and pup. I also make frequent visits home (Northeast Ohio) to see family, grab a Blizzard from Dairy Queen and root for Cleveland sports teams.

Have a story to tell and need help bringing it to life? Please reach out. I’d love to learn more and collaborate with you!
